Avia majored in English language and literature, as well as in special educational needs, and holds an MA from Haifa university in Bibliotherapy. Bibliotherapy – the field utilizing writing in emotional therapy – has led her to seek for alternative tools for those who cannot read and write. Her Ph.D. research, therefore, focuses on coding as a language for all intents and purposes, and its potential affordances to self-expression and well-being. The populations she is most interested in are non-writing children and teenagers facing body-image-related issues.
Avia believes that it is essential to address individuals’ personal needs as part of their learning processes. This is why she founded a digital platform that helps learners acquire English while adapting the methodologies to their own characteristics. She loves arts and music, and as a language passionate and speaker of a few, loves traveling and getting acquainted with new people and cultures.
